BE A PCI VOLUNTEER & RECEIVE FREE TRAINING

TESOL will hold its annual conference this year in New Orleans from March 15-19. At each conference, TESOL offers a number of Pre- and Post-Convention Institutes that provide hands-on, professional development led by experts in the field. These are ticketed events that normally cost $125-205 to attend.

However, you can sign up to be a PCI volunteer and attend a training session for free. PCI volunteers take tickets from attendees and assist the speaker(s) during the session.

PCIs are scheduled Tuesday- Wednesday (March 15-16) and Saturday (March 19) and consist of some morning and afternoon half-day sessions and some full-day sessions. A list of the PCIs can be found at http://www.tesol.org/s_tesol/convention2011/pci.asp .

If you are interested in being a PCI volunteer, please e-mail Mark Honegger, the PCI Team Leader, at honegger@louisiana.edu  with the following information:

name,

phone number (preferably cell),

affiliation, and

those times when you would be available to volunteer.

You don’t have to register for the conference or pay any money to take advantage of this offer. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to sign up as PCI volunteers. This is a great opportunity for local teachers and other ESOL personnel to receive high quality training at no cost to you. TESOL will also provide all PCI volunteers with a certificate of attendance for their work.
